Senate to decide on background checks for appointees to state posts
Legislation that would require the Kansas Bureau of Investigation to perform background checks on appointees who are subject to Senate confirmation passed the first round of approval Wednesday in the Senate.
Final action on SB 215 is expected to take place tomorrow.
Currently the KBI only conducts background checks if asked to do so by the Governor.
