Local lawmakers oppose proposals punishing those without health insurance
Health reform initiatives, including the most recent health plan from Montana Democratic Sen. Max Baucus, chair of the Senate Finance Committee, include mandates that United States citizens be covered by some type of health insurance, with a failure to do so resulting in fines. If a person is unable to pay the fines, they could face jail time, according to a Joint Committee on Taxation staff member. [Read more...]

A harvest of taxpayer-funded fun and games
It is absolutely beautiful in Kansas.
Temperatures in the 70s, blue skies and puffy white clouds. It is also fall harvest time, a little later than usual but we are hoping for bumper crops. The much cooler summer has delayed the crop harvest so now it is overlapping fall calving time. Farmers are working double duty and since they don’t punch time clocks.
