Education budget gets saved by one-time stimulus infusion.
Legislature sends $13b budget to Sebelius
The Senate voted 35-5 Tuesday to adopt a conference committee report approving a $13 billion budget for fiscal year 2010.
These plans approve $5.76 billion in expenditures from the state general fund for FY 2010, which is a 6.8 percent decrease from the fiscal year 2009 expenditures.
The budget calls for the fiscal year to end with a provisional $172 million balance - a figure almost certain to be diminished by shrinking state revenues. The measure passed quickly with virtually no debate on the Senate floor.
