Tiahrt admits to 'serious concerns.' Conservative candidates split with Brownback, a supporter of Sebelius' HHS nomination
Huelskamp calls for Senate rejection of Sebelius confirmation
State Sen. Tim Huelskamp, a candidate for Jerry Moran's First Congressional District seat, announced Thursday his opposition to the confirmation of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius as Secretary of Health and Human Services in Pres. Barack Obama's cabinet.
At the same time, Rep. Todd Tiahrt expressed reservations about Sebelius' suitability, but did not call for a Senate rejection of her confirmation.
Although neither called directly on either Brownback, who is running for Kansas governor in 2010, or Sen. Pat Roberts to vote against the Sebelius nomination, Huelskamp said the Senate should deny her confirmation.
Both Brownback and Roberts say they will back Sebelius in the confirmation vote.
