Obama's reversal on embryonic stem cell research widely condemned
President Barack Obama’s decision to lift a restriction on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research drew condemnation from pro-life groups and legislators, as well as a leading stem cell researcher Friday evening.
According to various media reports, Obama intends to sign an executive order Monday to undo a Bush administration policy that has been in place since 2001.
Critics say the decision, which will allow researchers to reap stem cells from human embryos at taxpayer expense, is not only troubling from a moral and ethical standpoint, it also promotes bad science.
