State’s budget situation goes from bad to worse
“There’s no joy in Mudville.”
That was the summation of House Majority Leader Ray Merrick in the wake of worse than expected revenue projections released last week by Kansas Legislative Research.
In an interview with Kansas Liberty, Merrick reiterated his oft-stated belief that the Legislature erred in relying so heavily on federal stimulus funds, which run out after fiscal year 2011, to plug budget holes in the FY 2010 budget and to hold K-12 education harmless.
