Lobbyists with vested interests put spotlight on cuts despite 75 percent educational funding growth over ten years
Cutting KNEA involvement could cut costs to schools
Stephen Iliff, a member of the 2010 Commission, which studies education issues in Kansas, said that during his time as a commissioner, he has noticed that school officials, school lobbyists and the mainstream media generally only cite the amount of aid schools receive from the state, while leaving out federal and local funding sources.
Generally speaking, schools receive approximately $12,500 per student from federal, state and local budgets. State base aid is about $4,400 of that.
