Abortionist claims he gave $200K to ProKanDo to help Sebelius

Tiller letter reveals much larger-than-reported donations to Sebelius

A Kansas pro-life organization re-released a letter Wednesday in which late-term Wichita abortionist Dr. George Tiller admitted to personally donating $200,000 to his political action committee, ProKanDo, to support Kathleen Sebelius in her 2002 gubernatorial campaign against pro-life Republican challenger Tim Shallenburger.

"In my naivete," Tiller wrote, "I thought my personal contribution of $200,000 to Pro Kan Do would be more than enough to alert voters to the anti-choice position of Mr. Shallenberger (sic)."

In the letter, obtained by Operation Rescue, Tiller begged other “friends of choice” to help raise an additional $250,000 for the PAC to be spent on Sebelius' campaign.

Operation Rescue said Sebelius had lied during the Senate Finance Committee hearings when she testified she had only received $12,450 from Tiller during her insurance commissioner campaign, when she actually received almost $38,500 from Tiller.

More information about Sebelius financial affiliations with Tiller can be viewed on the Kansas Meadowlark website at http://kansasmeadowlark.com/2009/03/03/sebelius-tiller-prokando/ (see slide 20).

“I don’t want some ultra-conservative politician closing our doors and putting an end to my practice,” Tiller said in his letter. “Together we can make sure we have a pro-choice Governor for Kansas…”

The Tiller letter appears to show the donations to Sebelius previously reported represent only a partial amount of money she has received from the abortion clinic operator. “This letter is the smoking gun showing that Sebelius continues to conceal the full extent of her financial support from Tiller," said Operation Rescue president Troy Newman in the statement.

"Kathleen Sebelius benefited from the hundreds of thousands of dollars that Tiller personally gave to influence the outcome of the 2002 election in her favor," Newman also said. "This letter is undeniable evidence that Sebelius has yet to come clean with the Senate Finance Committee, and with the American people concerning her strong financial ties to abortionist Tiller."
